Lee Myung-bak is now the fourth South Korean president to be arrested over corruption charges. Lee was born in 1941. He entered Hyundai Engineering and Construction in 1965, and became the company's youngest senior executive at the age of 36. Lee started his political career in 1992, and was elected president in 2007. He was the first South Korean president with a business background. Lee led South Korea out of the global economic crisis, and helped the country earn the right to host the G20 summit, the Nuclear Security Summit, and the Winter Olympics. However, Lee faced much criticism during his term for his inability to fulfil promises made during his campaign. Many controversies and scandals also took place during his term as well.
