If you're just joining us, we're talking about the first-ever Grammy Festival, which opened on Monday in Beijing. The LINE-UP included international superstars, Pharrell Williams, One Republic and James Bay. CGTN reporter Jenny Cortes Ybañez talked to some of the performers before the event.
Yesterday, we spoke to Grammy award-winning artist 'Daya', who even sang a few lines of her single, "Hide Away" for us. And TODAY, we catch up with Canadian pop sensation, Carly Rae Jepsen, whose huge hits include "Call Me Maybe" and "I Really Like You."
JENNY CORTES YBAÑEZ, BEIJING "First Grammy Festival - what is it like being part of it?"
CARLY RAE JEPSEN, SINGER AND SONGWRITER "I mean incredible! We feel so lucky we were able to go to the Great Wall yesterday. I think one for the books."
JCY: "Do you have any future projects here in China that we should know about?"
CARLY: "Here in China, I mean for everywhere and China included I have my new album that I've been working on that would be the dream."
CARLY'S UPCOMING PROJECTS "A new album and potential tour."
JCY: "Is it true you can write over 80 songs for just an album?"
CARLY: "I mean 80 is kind of a low number. It's a good challenge, thank you. I like your attitude about it."
JENNY CORTES YBAÑEZ, BEIJING "A lot of your songs have to do with love, does that inspire you for new music?"
CARLY RAE JEPSEN, SINGER AND SONGWRITER "Well I think I just like cutting into emotions with musics, so I keep coming back to my main subject."
JCY: "What else do you want to accomplish?"
CARLY: "I definitely have ideas of like cool little side projects that would be fun that would be a fun one day venture."
JCY: "I have to ask have you learned any Chinese during your stay here?"
CARLY: "We had a full spreadsheet I learned 'I love you' there you go "I love you."
JCY: "What's your message to your Chinese fans here in China and around the world?"
CARLY: "Well 'wǒ ài nǐ' and thank you for having us back. One of the most exciting trips to get to come to."
