British Prime Minister Theresa May in an exclusive interview with China Central Television (CCTV) reporter Shui Junyi on Thursday said she wants to develop trade, business relations as well as people to people contacts between China and the UK.
"We have Golden Era of UK-China relations. And what I am seeing from this visit is being able to develop this link between the UK and China – the links on trade, business relations, but also the opportunity for people to people links, things like education for example," she said.
May hoped to develop this Golden Era of China-UK relations and "build on it still further".
Speaking of post-Brexit UK, May said: "As the UK is leaving the European Union, we are going to be more outward looking, and looking to enhance our relationship around the world. And this relationship with China is an important part of that."
She also encouraged the Chinese tourists to visit Britain, saying Britain has put great effort into ensuring security and stability in the UK.
"It is safe and it's a great country to visit. China is also a great country for the UK visitors to come and see. The UK has a fantastic heritage as well and some wonderful sights to visit," May said, adding, "So come to London. Come to the UK. Come to see every part of the UK."
