China is blasting President Trump's move to encourage official exchanges between the US and China's Taiwan. Beijing said the bill violates the One China principle.
WU QIAN CHINESE MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE SPOKESPERSON "The US signed the Taiwan Travel Act on 16 March local time. The Chinese Military strongly opposes the signing of the bill. Taiwan is a part of China. The Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affairs. Although it's not a legally binding bill, it severely violates the 'One China' principle and the Three Joint Communiques. The bill interferes in China's internal affairs and damages the development of military ties between China and the US. China has requested the US to follow its promise, correct the mistake, and to not put the related items of the bill into effect. China has also requested the US stop official exchanges with Taiwan, cut military ties with Taiwan, and quit selling arms to Taiwan, in case of hurting the relationship between Chinese and US armies, or the stable situation across the Taiwan Strait."
