Turning to China-US trade tensions. Experts say the fresh US tariffs on billions of dollars worth of Chinese goods have a far-reaching impact and hurt the global economy.
LI YONG, SENIOR FELLOW CHINA ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE "The US move will not only hinder the global economic recovery, but also hit international supply chains. Many companies and customers will be affected. On the 34-billion-US-dollar list of goods, 59% are exports from foreign companies, while 38% are exports for processing trade. It is no doubt that related companies will be hurt."
ZHANG JIANPING, DIRECTOR ACADEMY OF INT'L TRADE & ECONOMIC COOPERATION CHINA'S MINISTRY OF COMMERCE "China's countermeasures against the US are intended to protect the interests of our own, as well as our trade partners. Our move is in line with the common interests of countries who support the multilateral trade system."
