Olympic Diplomacy: IOC member suggests joint Korean team for Nobel peace prize

The South Korean and DPRK joint women's ice hockey team is unlikely to win any medals at the Olympics, but at least one person thinks another honor is called for.
A senior American member of the International Olympic Committee has called for the team to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. This is the first time an inter-Korean team had competed at any Olympics. Seoul proposed the formation of a joint team as part of its efforts to use the PyeongChang Games to re-engage with the north and pave the way for talks over its weapons program. The team competed for the first time on Saturday, losing 8-0 to Switzerland. But they won over the crowd as DPRK cheerleaders and South Korean fans rooted players on.
