Foreign parties extend good wishes for CPC National Congress

Foreign political parties, organizations and dignitaries have sent congratulatory messages for the successful opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)

The central committee of the DPRK's ruling Workers' Party of Korea said that China had made "great progress in accomplishing the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics" under the correct guidance of the Communist Party.

"We are greatly pleased over this," the party's central committee said in the message carried by the official KCNA news agency, adding that it "sincerely wished" the CPC congress a "satisfactory success."

Cuba

The 19th CPC National Congress is "an important event that will set the development projections of the Asian country," said Ulises Guilarte, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and also secretary general of the Workers' Union.

"We believe it will be a major success," he added.

Guilarte said the Cuban people have a "high admiration and respect" for China because for many years they have been a "living testimony of solidarity, brotherhood and cooperation" with the island.

"Therefore as China celebrates its National Congress of the Communist Party we wish the Chinese government and people prosperity, health and infinite development," he said.

Algeria

Leaders of Algeria's ruling and opposition parties both are showing a keen interest in the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Mekki Zoulikha, a member of the central committee of the ruling National Liberation Front, said China is a pivotal country and the CPC had contributed to the development of China's domestic and foreign policies, transforming the country into an economic giant.

She noted that the 19th CPC National Congress will analyze current international and domestic situations and set guidelines and policies in line with the trend of the times.

Noamane Laouar, a leader of the Movement of Society for Peace, Algeria's main opposition, said his party has been closely following all CPC national congresses.

"China's development stands at a new historical starting point, and socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new phase of development," he commented.

Vietnam

The 19th CPC National Congress is of great significance as its success will contribute to China's modernization under the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics, said Hoang Binh Quan, head of the Commission for External Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

Quan spoke highly of Xi Jinping's leadership of the CPC, saying that he "has led the Chinese people to gain many important achievements in socio-economic development, and has heightened China's role and status in the international area."

"We sincerely wish the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China a success," he said.

Greece

Greek political leaders have highlighted China's significant role in global development and extended best wishes for the 19th CPC National Congress.

Panos Rigas, secretary of the central committee of the ruling SYRIZA party, said: "We should start seeing the growth of China as a chance to achieve worldwide economic stability and cooperation."

"We believe that this congress will renew the commitment of the CPC to building a future of prosperity and justice for China and the world. Personally and on behalf of the Central Committee of SYRIZA, I would like to express our best wishes for the work of the 19th National Congress of the CPC," Rigas said.

Vassiliki Souladaki, who is in charge of international relations affairs of PASOK, a major political party in Greece, said that given China's expanding economic ambitions and increasingly active role in global governance, the congress is "of paramount importance for the whole world."

Michalis Psilos, president of Greek national news agency AMNA, said that the congress is particularly significant for Greece, because "it will define the new course of Sino-Greek relations."

"I believe that based on the decisions of your congress, undoubtedly these ties will be further enhanced," Psilos said.
