At least 20 killed and 24 injured in bus crash in northern Philippines

At least 20 people were killed and 24 others injured in a bus crash early on Monday morning in the northern Philippine city of Agoo, local police said.
A jeepney, a kind of small bus popular in the Philippines, crashed head on with a bus around 3:30 a.m., killing 20 of the 29 passengers on board the vehicle. The 15 passengers on the larger bus were also injured.
The jeepney was heading for a Christmas mass in a nearby town, reported AFP citing a local police officer.
Authorities said an investigation into the incident is underway. They are checking whether the jeepney driver, who, killed in the accident, fell asleep or was driving under the influence.
