Myanmar's government and two armed rebel groups have signed a national ceasefire agreement in Naypyidaw. The New Mon State Party and the Lahu Democratic Party have agreed to the deal, which the government sees as a significant victory in the country's peace process. Drafted in 2015, the National Ceasefire Agreement was a landmark deal between the Myanmar government and several ethnic insurgent groups. Now ten groups have inked the agreement, while others have declined or dropped out of the negotiation as they perceived the deal as unfair.
