Unidentified gunmen on Saturday attacked the home of Kenya’s deputy president, William Ruto, in the country’s western town of Eldoret. The town lies 300 kilometers northwest of Nairobi, the African nation's capital.
Ruto and his family were not at home at the time of the attack, but a police officer guarding the residence was wounded.
Local media said gunshots were heard at the scene.
The shooting came less than two weeks before Kenya's presidential election.
Officials from Ruto's office were not available for immediate comment.
