As China and Kazakhstan continue to expand their economic relationship, both sides are looking ahead. CGTN's Jen Kwan tells us about new plans in the works.
In his first official visit to China after taking office in December, Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Beibut Atamkulov pledged stronger relations with China.
On Thursday, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Atamkulov at the Diaoyutai Guest House in Beijing.
WANG YI CHINA'S FOREIGN MINISTER "In the past six years, the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Kazakhstan has always been at the forefront, and has achieved fruitful results, with important effects in the Eurasian region and the rest of the world."
BEIBUT ATAMKULOV KAZAKHSTAN'S FOREIGN MINISTER "Kazakhstan will expand industrial energy cooperation projects and the scale of trade between two countries. Cooperation in agriculture, energy, industry, personnel training, and infrastructure will be strengthened."
After the talks, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two countries' foreign ministries from 2020 to 2022. Wang Yi said China and Kazakhstan share the same vision and complement each other. He said the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation are broad and promising.
