Burkina Faso's president told CGTN that China's investments are helping Africa industrialize and create more jobs.
ROCH MARC CHRISTIAN KABORE PRESIDENT OF BURKINA FASO "I must say the forum is a real success for us, because it provides a very good platform for China-Africa communication. The forum boosts international relations and realizes the shared interests of each country' 'President Xi Jinping's speech is very important. He's pledged 60 billion US dollars for funding in Africa over the next three years. In addition, he's shown interest in many other sectors and decided that China will invest in these fields. That's why I was talking about agriculture. That's the core issue that can make Africa self-sufficient.
China's investment can also help Africa to industrialize, so that at least we can transport our goods across our country. The investment can also boost employment. What's more, the Belt and Road Initiative, China's proposal is backed by African nations. This proposal is conducive to globalization, whether through roads, railways or sea routes. It will also boost international trade. As you know, the forum upholds multilateralism in an aim to stop some countries from launching trade protectionism.
The forum also discussed education and health. Leaders talked about guaranteeing the equal rights of women, and children to receive education -- or at least to some degree, increasing the proportion of them to be educated. I also want to say that we are seeing a very significant fact, that is Chinese and African people are getting closer, whether in terms of state or private enterprises. We should take everything into consideration to make sure that Africa is involved in all of China's investment to the continent. It's not just because these projects provide taxes, but because they create jobs. China has also decided to support African nations' interconnectivity and the continental integration. That's why we are working on projects of roads and railways. They can all boost the interconnectivity of African nations."
