ATP BNP Paribas Open: Federer fights off Coric 5-7, 6-4, 6-4

To California for tennis, where Roger Federer was looking for his 17th straight win to begin the season, and beat the best start of his career back in 2006. Now 36 years old and back on top of the world, the Swiss great was up against 21-year-old Croatian Borna Coric for a spot in his fourth straight final at the BNP Paribas Open, where he has already won a record five titles, but it would certainly not be handed to him.
Coric in the far court, breaks Federer in the 11th game of the first set and now has two chances to close it out. He goes to work on Roger's backhand and is rewarded when the Swiss hits the net. Coric takes the set 7-5.
The Croatian broke again to start the second, but Feds increases his attack and soon gets back on level terms.
The Swiss then breaks Coric a second time to claim the second set 6-4.
The deciding set has had four breaks of serve and Federer is looking to end the match with one more as he fires slice after slice at the Croatian. Coric clips the net and his shot bounces wide, as Federer takes the third 6-4, and the world number one is moving on to the final after a hard-fought win.
The other semi-final sees Argentina's Juan Martin Del Potro in the near court, taking on Milos Raonic of Canada, and this one is nowhere near as close. When Raonic sends this backhand long, Del Potro takes the first set with ease, 6-2.
Same story in the second as the sixth seed is able to break the hard-serving Canadian, and can close it out with a second one. Raonic delivers a backhand into the net and it's all over, 6-3 in the second set, and Del Potro will face Federer in the final.
