Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte made a surprise visit to government troops stationed in Marawi city on Thursday, where soldiers are fighting against ISIL-inspired militants.
Duterte was dressed in camouflage to show his support for the military campaign.
Over 500 people, mostly militants, have died since fighting broke out on May 23, after terrorists took over parts of the city.
Duterte recently asked Congress to extend martial law in the region until the end of the year.
