Citizens here at the heart of the Egyptian Capital haven't heard these intense alarming noises in years.
ADEL EL MAHROUKY CAIRO "The Egyptian capital has not seen an attack with this magnitude in a very long time. What appears to have happened is a car bomb exploding at this October Bridge.
The bridge is the most vital route connecting East and West of the Egyptian Capital.
Usually the location of the explosion is packed with vehicles, luckily the rush hour hasn't had started when the explosion went off.
Bomb Squads are screening the area in case another bomb is there to target the traffic, once it resumes.
"At first we thought our building was collapsing. We rushed out and saw the explosion. A passengers' mini bus was on fire, and two other cars smashed behind it. Windows of surrounding buildings were shattered. It was a huge explosion. We've seen several people injured. Thank God We haven't witnessed any deaths."
The authorities have confirmed nine injuries so far.
Police didn't release a statement yet, explaining the cause of the explosion or the motives behind it.
