Authorities in Indian-controlled Kashmir say at least eight militants, two soldiers and two civilians have been killed in violence about 60 kilometers to the southeast of Srinagar. Police say the militants and troopers were killed in two separate gunfights while the two civilians were killed in subsequent clashes with government forces. One alleged militant has been caught alive and another has been killed by what was reported as "retaliatory fire" by police. Authorities have suspended Internet services in Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian districts.
