China firmly opposes any countries using their own laws to carry out "long arm jurisdiction" against Chinese entities or individuals, said China's Foreign Ministry in a response to new US sanctions related to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Thursday.
When asked if Chinese companies sanctioned by the US had broken UN sanctions against the DPRK, ministry spokeswomen Hua Chunying reiterated that the Chinese government has been comprehensively, accurately, faithfully and strictly implementing the UN Security Council's DPRK-related resolutions.
Hua added that if there is solid evidence proving that there is any violation of the UN Security Council resolutions in Chinese territory, China will deal with it in accordance with laws and regulations.
The US on Wednesday announced new sanctions on several firms and individuals that are said to be aiding DPRK's nuclear weapons programs.
The action will enable the US to block assets held by those people or firms in the country and prohibit US citizens from dealing with them.
