Nuke envoys of S. Korea, Japan meet to discuss DPRK issue

The top nuclear envoys of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Japan met on Monday to discuss the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's (DPRK) nuclear program, one day before the inter-Korean talks regarding Pyongyang's possible participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in ROK, per Yonhap News Agency, ROK's state-run media.
Lee Do-hoon, ROK's special representative for Korean Peninsula peace and security affairs, and his Japanese counterpart, Kenji Kanasugi attended the meeting.
Kanasugi didn't make any comments on his way to the meeting.

The meeting came a day before globally watched DPRK-ROK talks, discussing the DPRK's possible participation in the Feb. 9-25 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games at the truce village of Panmunjom.
ROK said it has already received DPRK's list of five delegates for the talks through the restored cross-border hotline on Sunday.
The DPRK delegation will be led by Ri Son-gwon, chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, while ROK sending out its Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon and four others.
Seoul said the meeting will be held at the ROK side's Peace House at Panmunjom.
