After an eleven-day theater carnival, the 6th edition of the Wuzhen Theater Festival brought down its curtain over the weekend with a big surprise. The final results for the Young Theater Artists Competition were unveiled with the Grand Prix going to nobody at Sunday evening's closing ceremony. Our reporter Sun Wei was there.

The closing ceremony was more arresting than previous years' because the awards for the Young Theatre Artists Competition were not announced until this last occasion. But surprisingly, the highly awaited moment for the top honor "The Best Play" award, turned to be a moment of mixed feelings, because the jury has decided that no play could live up to the position this year. To some, it's a disappointment. But to more, the vacancy means hope and standard.

Xu Yewen was crowned "The Most Outstanding Artist" for her performance and directing in the play "Sleeping Beauty Wakes from a Dream". And two Special Prizes went to "Mournful Birds Cry" and "Go Away".

SUN WEI WUZHEN, ZHEJIANG "The Young Theater Artists Competition is a chief component of the festival. Eighteen creative groups have been selected among 400 plus to come here to perform a newly created work on the designated topic 'An adjective, a noun and a verb'. Winning a prize is bound to fortify the young talents' passion and determination to pursue their dreams on stage."

FU JIAHUA PERFORMER IN "GO AWAY" "Winning the Special Prize is a powerful push for me to walk along the theatrical way. I've just graduated from an art school this autumn. Actually, I was wondering whether to give up acting and take a profession outside the field. But tonight, this honor helps me making up my mind about which way to follow. I love acting and I love Wuzhen."

Next year's schedule for the festival was also published at the closing ceremony. It is to start from October 17th. through 27th with the theme "Emerge".
