The Champions League Round of 16 draw held Monday at the home of UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland rewarded audiences with some exciting fixtures. Among the highlights are defending champion Real Madrid taking on star-studded Paris Saint-Germain and a return of the rivalry between Chelsea and Barcelona.
Chelsea defeated Barcelona in the 2012 Champions League semi-finals thanks to Fernando Torres' infamously 'unbelievable' goal. In order to repeat that feat from five years ago, the blues will have to do it at a much earlier stage.
"I think every time we played Barcelona, they are full of strengths all around so, we just don't estimate teams, you know we will take them, take each game and hopefully they will be worried about our strengths more than we will worry about theirs," Chelsea Club Secretary David Barnard said.

PSG's big spending is all because of their desire to win the Champions League. After a successful campaign in Group B, many at the club would be slightly annoyed with being paired with Real Madrid so early - even with world record signing Neymar Jr. being a regular scorer against Los Blancos, netting 15 against them while with Barcelona. But in order to be Europe's best they have to beat Europe's best.
"I think they have many, many, many qualities, they have a lot of strengths, quality players. They have also, we know that they are going to play home, they have a lot of offensive power. But we have our qualities," PSG Sporting Director Maxwell said. "We have ours, our players, our ambition to continue in this competition. So we are going to do everything. We have a staff that knows them very well, from Spain, so I think we have all the qualities also to go through to the next round."
Other mouthwatering matchups include Manchester City, who should have an easy time of it when they go up against Basel. Liverpool, who scored a record amount of goals for an English club in the group stage, facing 2004 winners Porto. Three-time champions Manchester United go up against the most successful Europa League team of all time, Sevilla. Roma face Ukrainian Premier League winners Shaktar Donestsk and Bayern Munich are drawn against Turkish powerhouse Besiktas.
The first legs will be played on the weeks of February 13-14 and 20-21, with the return legs on March 6-7 and 13-14.
