The annual Beijing Dance Festival is one of the biggest celebrations of the art form in China. Its two-week run has one educational week and one performance week. This year's much-anticipated festival kicked off on Friday, with an international faculty passing on their contemporary skills in a dance camp.
Dance masters from countries including China, Italy, France, Japan, the United States and Barbados are giving lessons to their new students.
As in previous years, the Beijing Dance Festival began with a six-day dance camp.
Here, enthusiasts from China and abroad could enjoy intensive training on contemporary styles: from techniques and movements, to choreography and artistic expression.
Artistic director of the Beijing Dance Festival, Willy Tsao, says more and more dance lovers are getting involved in the camp every year.
Willy added that he believes the international group will work well together.
Besides training, the education week also includes a series of lectures and workshops.
