Basketball lover Xiaohang almost lost a leg in a car accident last summer. Although the surgery was successful, the 23-year old sunk into depression during recovery after learning that his chances of returning to the court were slim.
Ding Miaowen, a nurse and drawing aficionado, decided to utilize her artistic talent to lift Xiaohang out of his slump by recording details of his recovery in a series of cartoons.

“With the pictures I wanted to help him to rebuild confidence for life,” Ding said.
After seven surgeries, Xiaohang has now been discharged from the hospital but is still recovering.

The drawings, first shared by the nurse on her personal social network account, were later put on Chinese social media platform Weibo. They received thumbs up from many for being “heart-warming.”
