China-Russia Media Forum: Two sides to work together on projects in media, film & television

The fourth China-Russia Media Forum has been held in Shanghai, with industry specialists discussing cooperation in the fields of emerging new media, film and even cartoons. CGTN's Wu Lei was there and brings us more.
With the theme of "New direction for China-Russia media cooperation in the new era", over one hundred officials from mainstream and emerging new media outlets attended the forum. The two sides signed several deals on media cooperation.
ALEXEY VOLIN, DEPUTY MINISTER COMMUNICATIONS AND MASS MEDIA, RUSSIA "Today Alexander Zarov, Russian Federation's Director of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media Supervision, signed three license agreements for media registration in Russia. CCTV Russian, Chinese and English are now registered media outlets, and will enjoy the right of broadcasting through satellite channels, online and on cable."
Mr. VOLIN said in the past 4 years, Russia has strengthened cooperation with China in movie market. About 20 Russian movies have been introduced to Chinese market. The number is 0 four years ago. He believes movie will be a great potential aspect for the future cooperation.
HUANG KUNMING, HEAD OF PUBLICITY DEPARTMENT CENTRAL COMMITTEE OF CHINA'S COMMUNIST PARTY "Media outlets from China and Russia are expected to further promote people to people exchanges between the two neighboring countries, which will set a solid foundation for both countries' development."
Both the mainstream media outlets in China and Russia are now facing challenges from the fast development of digital media technology and artificial intelligence, but experts say challenges also mean opportunities.
MAXIM AKIMOV RUSSIAN DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER "Russia and China have set up plans for media and digital technology cooperation. We will devote our focus more on cultural exchanges. Our Chinese partners are good at content production and communication."
During the one day event, there were also three sub-forums, focusing on the digital transformation of traditional media and expanding cooperation in the fields of animation AND film.
