2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics: ISU declines China's 3000m short track appeal

One of the most controversial events at these Games has been the women's 3,000-meter short track relay. That event, would see South Korea win an accident-filled race, and China end up in second. But, that would not be the final result as the PRC would be disqualified, and would not even end up on the podium. China, appealed the decision, but the International Skating Union, the sport's governing body declined the claim, which means the results stand.
The squad were waiting, flag in hand for the official results, when the judges ruled China had impeded another skater on the final lap, and were disqualified. The ISU says China did not appeal within the 30-minute time-limit after the event, thus the reason to decline the claim. But China coach, Li Yan can be seen appealing to the ISU technical committee after the ruling on the ice. The event referees explained that China impeded another skater, and crossed the track, affecting their opponent's ability to skate.
