The past 70 years in China, led by the Communist Party of China, has witnessed many achievements. But the road was also bumpy with twists and turns.

Facing the current changeable world with its challenges and obstacles, how can the Chinese political system reach its full potential?

Answering that question, Professor Rana Mitter, director of the "China Centre" at the University of Oxford, UK, refers to the concept of "confidence" and offers his personal advice for governance reform in China.

Professor Mitter says one of things that China needs to do is have more confidence in itself.

They are not obstacles erected by the outside world, but from within China itself.

China just needs to remember what it has already well accomplished, to believe in itself, and to actually adopt a more relaxed and more easy-going approach.
