Korean Peninsula Diplomacy: Chinese President Xi meets with DPRK leader Kim Jong Un

We start in the northeast of China, where Chinese President Xi Jinping has held talks with DPRK supreme leader Kim Jong Un. The meeting took place on Monday and Tuesday in the coastal city of Dalian. Xi Jinping hosted a welcoming banquet for Kim and they also took a stroll and attended a luncheon. Officials say the two leaders had a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of views on relations between China and DPRK and major issues of common concern.
The meeting of the two leaders took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.
Chinese President Xi said he was happy to see that relations between China and DPRK and the situation on the Korean Peninsula have both made positive progress since the two leaders last met in March. Xi Jinping said he was willing to meet Kim again to make joint efforts to push forward the healthy and stable development of China-DPRK relations, achieve long-lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and promote regional peace, stability and prosperity.
