The greater part of the G20 Summit in Hamburg, Germany takes place at trade fair venue the Hamburg Messe, but the Summit guests will be at leisure on Friday evening when they attend a conference at the stunning Elbe Philharmonic Hall. The Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
The Philharmonic Hall is a concert hall in the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg, on the Grasbrook peninsula of the Elbe River. It is one of the largest and most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world.
The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave or quartz crystal; it sits on top of an old warehouse building near the historical Speicherstadt warehouse district and was designed by architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. It is the tallest inhabited building in Hamburg, with a height of 108 meters.
