China secures place in Winter Olympics ski jumping for first time

China's Chang Xinyue made a breakthrough at the Ski Jumping World Cup in Zao, Japan on Sunday to claim a Winter Olympics berth for the country for the first time in history.
Chang ranked 16th in the FIS World Cup with a score of 176.5 points. The 24-year-old was seen in 16 World Cup events during these two seasons and finally earned a berth for next month’s PyeongChang Winter Olympics with a total of 106 points.
Chang made a great improvement in this season as she started in three stops of the World Cup and finished 10th in Sapporo, Japan and 16th in Zao to take the quota.

Maren Lundby of Norway claimed the title with 245.9 points, wining her fifth straight World Cup ski jumping event. 
Japan's Yuki Ito was second with 215.7 points after leaps of 90.5 and 91.5 meters while Sara Takanashi, also from Japan, was third with 215.4 points following two jumps, of 89.0 and 91.0 meters respectively.
