After nine months of bitter warfare against ISIL, the devastated northern Iraqi city of Mosul now has to face up to the huge reconstruction challenges ahead and make efforts to return displaced civilians home.

The country's prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, declared victory over ISIL miliants on Monday, three years after they took control of what was once Iraq's second-largest city.
