Where Does Chinese Fashion Stand? Market influence grows, originality to come

Chinese fashion is gaining additional relevance thanks to more discerning consumers. That's according to Hong Huang, one of China's most outspoken experts on fashion and the media.
HONG HUANG WRITER "I think we have managed an ecommerce to become very dominant in terms of fashion creation and manufacturing for domestic market. But, all that, manufacturing and ecommerce are you need to search for originality for it because what we are seeing are the both of sell on ecommerce today and fashion are local Chinese manufactures or designers follow the international trends, which is designed in London and New York. And they will produce things that have been international, designed to be fashionable. But that producing less Chinese version on that, but they are not leading the trend. They don't have a voice in the world or fashion to says 'OK, this is Chinese fashion.'"
HONG HUANG WRITER "Pretty accurate. That is a joke, because fashion magazine is produced for advertisers, more than the readers. Most of the content is produced to please advertisers. So that they see it, they think 'Oh yes, that is what I want'. It is great to be a fashion editor because you get the best pastors, right? You stay in a 5 star hotel, travel in business class. Although you are not a reporter, there is no way that you can afford these things, but there you are earning, workers, a very minimum wage, but living the high life of a wealthy social life in Euro. So, I think there is great frustration, but there's also great passion in that kind of life style, which is a fashion educator. But, I think, because it is such a difference, most Chinese fashion editors fail to come down, said 'OK, I am seeing all these beautiful things' that properly my readers might not be able to afford, how do I interpret that for them?"
