Updated 11:28, 17-Sep-2019
August has turned in positive numbers on a few economic fronts. China's National Bureau of Statistics says the nation's economy remained generally stable in the past month. And it continues to show a positive trend. Specifically, sound development has been seen in service sectors. Information transmission was up 17 percent from a year earlier, and there was also a nearly 15 percent year-on-year increase in high tech service investment. But the economy is facing challenges. Pork prices rose by more than 46 percent compared with last year. There were drops in investment in the primary industry and overall industrial production.
FU LINGHUI, SPOKESPERSON CHINA'S NATIONAL BUREAU OF STATISTICS "At present, factors of instability and uncertainty in the international environment have increased markedly, structural problems in the domestic economy remain prominent, and downward pressure on the economy has increased."
