The 10th International Exhibition of Inventions and the 3rd World Invention and Innovation Forum are underway in south China's Foshan City, displaying new inventions and promoting technology. CGTN's Wang Tongxuan has more.
85 percent of global economic growth in the world is driven by innovation. But what are the innovation fields of the future?
GEORGE FITZGERALD SMOOT III WINNER OF THE 2006 NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS "What it is that we want to be produced? What areas are right for big change? You know we have big change on communications, cell phones, so what else? I personally pick health care and medicine, but there're things and water resources in energy, there're many fields there're right for transformations."
Aiming to promote the transformation and industrialization of technologies and inventions, Chinese authorities set up the China Academy of Invention Achievement Transformation, it includes many of the world's first advanced inventions achievements, such as magnetic resonance medical vehicles, which have the world's smallest and lightest full-function magnetic resonance imaging system.
XUE BINGSHAN, CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER CHINA ACADEMY OF INVENTION ACHIEVEMENT TRANSFORMATION "The operation of the magnetic resonance medical vehicles is very convenient, with the network transmission system, images from the patients can be uploaded to the Internet."
The application of the magnetic resonance medical vehicles is extensive and will be mainly used to strengthen primary health care in remote areas of China.
XUE BINGSHAN, CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGERCHINA ACADEMY OF INVENTION ACHIEVEMENT TRANSFORMATION "For example, in remote pastoral areas of Qinghai Province, herders used to walk hundreds of miles to the hospital, most people have no chance to use magnetic resonance for physical examination. Now, the vehicles enable people in remote areas to enjoy high quality medical examinations."
But there are challenges to the transformation of advanced technology. Experts point to the complex competitive environment and China-US trade frictions.
TIAN LIPU, CHAIRMAN CHINA INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SOCIETY "In terms of protecting intellectual property, we will further realize the high added value of intellectual property in the market economy, raising public awareness of innovation and recognition of intellectual property rights. At present, enterprises have gained more investment in research and development and patent applications as a result of national policies."
More than 5,000 inventions and innovative projects are on display at the exhibition which includes a section on civil-military integration projects, introducing military technologies and new products for both the military and enterprises as well.
