There's another special Chinese medical team that operates in Africa and beyond -- a floating one. The Peace Ark is a hospital ship that provides free healthcare to communities along Africa's coastline. In Mozambique, people have been praising its efforts. CGTN's Mahia Mutua has more.
The Peace Ark completed its mission in Mozambique in November last year.
It's part of China's Mission Harmony, and travels around the African coastline each year.
And the ship's medical team treats thousands of people in each country.
This 75-year-old had cataracts so severe that she was practically blind.
But after a seven-hour surgical procedure -- her life has changed.
"I came aboard the hospital ship through Hospital Mozambique, a local hospital. My eyes have lost sight for many years. I want to convey my thanks to both the Chinese and Mozambican governments for their help. Thank you!"
SUN TAO, CAPTAIN, PEACE ARK "We've treated outpatients, and have admitted at least 22 inpatients. We have conducted 42 surgeries -- especially for cataracts. There are high rates of cataracts in Africa. Today alone we completed seven of these operations. In the remaining days, we will continue to provide high-quality medical services for the people of Mozambique."
But the Peace Ark doesn't just visit African countries.
It travels the world to bring expert healthcare to people in need.
