UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday joined top officials from many countries at a conference on getting humanitarian aid to war-torn Yemen.
ANTONIO GUTERRES UN SECRETARY GENERAL "Yemen's situation today is catastrophic, but with international support, we can and must prevent this country from becoming a long term tragedy."
The UN chief called the conflict as triggering the world's largest humanitarian crisis, adding that UN will drum up nearly 3 billion US dollars worth of funds to help and protect the more than 13 million people there in 2018. Guterres urged in the meeting humanitarians must unconditionally reach the people who need aid.
