'Naked Resignation': People share views on quitting jobs with no back-up plan

Our reporter has also hit the streets of Beijing to find out people's views on the trend of quitting work with no back-up plan.

How do you see young Chinese quitting their job with no back-up plan?

ZHANG HUI "I think naked-resignation shows respect for the next job. After quitting a job, you can devote all your time to finding the job you want."

ZHANG YUAN "I think it takes courage to quit a job before getting the next one. It is really irresponsible to quit a job without a back-up plan. But if it's done with a clear plan for the future, such as starting your own business, this move could be considered. I am for them."

GUO JIAXUE "There is no right or wrong to the act of naked resignation. It depends on whether the person has taken into account what they want and don't want when making this decision. If it is in line with their own ideas and meeting their needs, I don't think it matters whether you resigned nakedly or not."

Why do you think so many young Chinese choose to go this way?

ZHANG HUI "I think it reflects that young people have their own ideas. They are more confident. When resigning, they don't consider whether they have a back-up plan."

LIU DONG "Most I know who have done a naked resignation did it for their first job, because they had little knowledge of it beforehand."

GUO JIAXUE "I guess young people are more passionate about their values. For one thing, they are young and free. For another, there might be a generational shift in values. It might be much more important and meaningful for them to act on their own values. I think what they do is good for them."

Would you like to quit your current job before getting the next one?

FENG YUANYUAN "I would have a clear plan before resigning. If I want to start my own business, I will make great preparations before making this decision."

ZHANG YUAN "At present I won't, because I have no savings now, and I want a more steady income to support my family, and for future vehicle and home purchases. Without income, there will be a lot of pressure."

ZHU BAO "If he isn't married, or is single right now, I advise him to discover his place in this wonderful world. But for me, because I have a wife and children, I will put this behind me."
