The US says the mission to eradicate ISIL in Syria "is coming to a rapid end". The White House says the US will work with its allies to secure the future of Syria. President Donald Trump agreed in a National Security Council meeting this week to keep US troops in Syria a little longer to defeat the terror group, but has signaled that he wants them out relatively soon.
Senior US officials say the president wants to bring peace to Syria but urges other countries in the region and the United Nations to contribute more. So far, there are around 2-thousand US troops remaining in Syria.
