Althani Collection in China: Forbidden City showcases collections from Qatari royal family

Staying in Beijing, the Forbidden City has prepared a wealth of exhibitions for visitors from all over the world, including the AlThani Collection from the Qatari royal family. Qi Jie has more.
270 pieces of pearl and precious stone jewelry, as well as 280 pieces of art from the Qatari royal family. The AlThani Collection is a veritable treasure trove. This calligraphy is the only surviving piece of cursive work by Li Bai, the renowned Tang Dynasty poet, dating back some 1300 years. The museum will also open a gallery of ancient furniture to the public soon.
SHAN JIXIANG, CURATOR, THE PALACE MUSEUM "There are lots of exhibitions this year. And this furniture gallery will present 2000 pieces made during the Ming and Qing Dynasties from May."  The museum is going to adjust several galleries, including the ones of Treasures, and Clocks and Watches, as well as Drum-shaped Stone Blocks, in order to improve the viewing effect.

About 42 exhibitions will open to the public one by one, but most of them will open in October."
