Chinese Premier Li Keqiang meets visiting Zimbabwean president in Beijing

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met visiting Zimbabwean President, Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday. The two leaders reaffirmed the strategic partnership and cooperation shared between the two countries.
Li said China sees Zimbabwe as an important partner and it wants to deepen cooperation in an innovative way on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
The two countries agreed to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, following a meeting between President Xi Jinping and his Zimbabwean counterpart Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday.
Mnangagwa is currently on a state visit to China from Monday to Friday. He took office last November, and China is the first country outside of Africa he visits.
Premier Li said the government was encouraging prestigious Chinese companies to invest in Zimbabwe to aid the country's development.
Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe wanted to strengthen their friendly relations and work to deepen their mutual trust and cooperation.
Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Li Zhanshu, also met President Mnangagwa. Li said China's top legislature was willing to work with Zimbabwe's parliament to provide proper legal protection and convenience for enterprises and staff on both sides.
