According to the United Nations, more than half of all Syrians have been displaced from their homes since the country’s civil war began in 2011.
Five million Syrians have left their country to seek refuge around the world. While some have traveled alone, searching for opportunity and a place to settle far from the conflict, others have traveled with groups, to countries that have pledged support to those displaced.
Argentina and Uruguay are two of those countries with programs in place to welcome refugees. CGTN's Joel Richards reports from South America on the challenges of starting a new life far away from home.
