The Sumatran elephants are a critically endangered species. Their population is falling because of poaching for ivory, or are killed for damaging crops. Also, the elephants’ habitat has been devastated by industrial activities such as logging. Currently, there are about 1,700 Sumatran elephants left in the wild. /VCG Photo
