US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has fired FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe just shortly before his scheduled retirement. This comes four days after Rex Tillerson was fired as Secretary of State.
Sessions says investigators found McCabe had made unauthorized disclosures to the news media and lacked candour on multiple occasions.
McCabe disputed the findings, saying the firing is part of Trump's "war" on the FBI. The former FBI official was deeply involved in the agency's Russian probe and was repeatedly criticized by Trump.
