The WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai wrapped up on Sunday as seventh-seeded German Julia Goerges defeated number two seed Coco Vandeweghe in the women's final for her second title of the year.
Goerges won the first set 7-5 against Vandeweghe after falling behind 5-3 midway. She would carry her momentum into the second set, playing unstoppable tennis against the American.
She completed the victory with a cross-court return winner on her second championship point. The 29-year-old screamed in delight after completing a stellar year in which she won two titles and reached five finals.

In women's doubles, Duan Yingying and Han Xinyun took on Zhang Shuai and Lu Jingjing in an all-Chinese final.
Duan and Han dominated the match early and quickly established a 3-love lead in the first set. The duo retained the upper hand, both in front of the net, and at the baseline, on their way to taking the first set 6-2.
In the second set, Duan and Han didn't meet any difficulties or much resistance from their opponents. They continued to control the match, and won in straight sets; 6-2, 6-1 to stand atop the podium at this year's tournament. The win marked their first title at the WTA Elite Trophy, and the biggest honor so far in their careers.
