For some, summer's hot temperatures lead to a loss of appetite. But an acai bowl could turn that around and make one's mouth water. And in it's home country of Brazil, the ice cream-like snack continues to gain popularity not only because it's tasty, but for its rich nutrition.
This is an acai bowl restaurant in Sao Paolo. According to the shop owner, their acai berries come from acai palm trees in Central and South America. And the acai bowl is made of frozen acai berry syrup.
It's pretty easy to make an acai bowl. Thoroughly blend the frozen fruit with guarana syrup until it starts to resemble the texture of ice cream, then add ingredients like oatmeal and fruit such as banana, strawberry and kiwi. But it's not only a summer snack. Many Brazilians eat it during winter too.
