When the Secret Garden produced the song “You Raise Me Up” in 2001, they may never have expected over a decade later, two kids on a Chinese singing talent show would gather so much international attention with their version of this inspirational song.
Tan Zhiyun, 7 and Li Chengyu, 10, didn’t know each other until a Chinese singing talent show - Let’s Sing Kids – invited them in 2015. And it was there, they shocked the world with their amazing rendition of the song.
Just within two weeks after they had performed, video clips of their performance won nearly 30 million clicks on Facebook and over seven million on Youtube. They were also invited to the Ellen Show afterward.

The two became a hot topic with the Chinese online community recently as their video clips have been reposted to several popular web portals.
Tan, now 10 years old, comes from Hong Kong. Thanks to her father who is a music teacher, she was able to study singing from a very young age.
Li, three years older than his partner, is from Canada. With a Chinese lineage, he can speak both Chinese and English fluently.
“He is a very shy boy but he gets crazy once he holds the microphone,” Li Wei, executive producer of the third season of “Let’s Sing Kids”, told Hangzhou Daily.

The two kids do share a lot of common ground - they love singing, attend various talent shows and have the same idol - Celine Dion!
The Hunan Television Station launched the Let’s Sing Kids in 2013 and it has been broadcasting for four seasons.
