Zhang Huawei, former vice-ministerial level inspector of the Central Leading Group for Inspection Work, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for severe disciplinary violations, China’s disciplinary authority said on Wednesday.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said Zhang attended banquets that were likely to undermine the fairness of official duty, which is a violation of the Party rules.
He is also accused of taking bribes, CCDI said in an online statement, without giving an amount.
The case has been transferred to the judiciary, it added.
CCDI’s inspection teams have been a core feature of the anti-corruption campaign, parachuted by central authorities into provinces or institutions to tackle entrenched corruption.
