A cold snap across Europe has brought low temperatures and snowfall in many countries where people aren't used to seeing it. Let's take a look.
It is estimated that the cold weather in Europe will last until the end of this week. Germany's Hamburg experienced heavy snow, with the temperature dropping to minus 30.4 degrees Celsius. The German government even canceled the welcome ceremony of the Ghanaian president. The French island of Corsica was also hit by snow for the past two days, increasing electricity usage as residents turned to electric heating. In Romania, the cold snap brought a snow storm which stranded thousands of travelers and saw the cancellation of classes, keeping students at home. It is reported that more than 80 train journeys and 15 flights were canceled, including at the Black Sea port. In northwest Croatia, nearly two meters of snow fell overnight, isolating the area. It took rescue teams hours to evacuate local residents. Cities such as Madrid and Barcelona in Spain also remained in snow. The cold weather is expected to persist.
