Since the first dialogue in 2008, China and the EU have held six rounds of talks to deepen trade ties, and exchange ideas on economic development. Here's a quick review.
In 2007, China and the European Union agreed to establish a high-level exchange mechanism between the Chinese State Council and European Commission.
In 2008, the first China-EU high-level Economic and Trade Dialogue was held in Beijing. Five major issues were on the table: trade and investment, harmonious and sustainable development, innovation and technology, consumer protection and product safety, and international development.
During the past decade, China and the EU have held six high-level economic talks to continue deepening trade, investment and economic cooperation.
In 2016, the sixth dialogue highlighted topics on macro-policy coordination and the Belt and Road Initiative. Also included was China-EU connectivity on development strategy under the theme "strengthening policy coordination, promoting sustainable growth".
