8 dead in gas pipeline explosion in SW China village

A natural gas pipeline exploded in a village in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday morning, leaving eight dead, according to local officials.
The explosion occurred at around 10:44 a.m., quickly followed by a second blast. 
Thirty-five others were injured, eight are severely wounded and four in critical condition, local authority said. All the injured were sent to the local hospital for medical treatment.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and the fire has been put out. 
Further investigation into the cause of the blast is still underway.
