One of the goals of the G20 summit is the empowerment of women.
As CGTN's Denny Alfonso reports, across the Atlantic in Mexico, a non-profit group wants to help bring in more women to the traditionally male-dominated tech sector.
Founded in 2007 in the US, “Girls in Tech” is a non-profit group focusing on engagement, education, and empowerment of girls and women who have an interest in the technology sector.
The “Girls in Tech Global Classroom” program is a virtual platform which offers women around the world the tools to succeed in computer science during an online class.
Global Classroom 2017 in Mexico has 350 participants, aged 8 to 69. The attendees learn everything from social media safe-use, to designing their websites.
The objective is to target the gender imbalance in these classrooms.
The program prepares the students in different fields like engineering, science, and mathematics.
Some of these classes are also taken simultaneously in other countries at Global Classrooms provided by Google.
There, a girl in Mexico City can interact virtually with other girls in France or Malaysia and share their learning experience.
