China's first cargo spacecraft, Tianzhou-1, has completed an automated fast-docking maneuver with the Tiangong-2 space lab, cutting the process down from around two days to just six and a half hours. It is the third such test between the two spacecraft, key parts of China’s manned space program. Fast docking between the supply ship and other ships is important as the country works to construct a permanent space laboratory.
